back Discover Vilalba  Natural heritage  Rivers and fishing reserves

The wealth of rivers in Vilalba provides the visitor with a variety of leisure activities, such as fishing, bathing or walking ad the opportunity to admire this river bank landscape, which is predominantly populated with alders and birch trees.

Most of the waters flowing and gushing out of this terrain lead to the river Miño, with the exception of the small tributaries of the Eume located in the parish of Vilapedre. Undeniably, the most important river in the area is the Madalena, which begins in the parish of Lanzós, and gives its name to a nature reserve and recreational zone which is located on its banks.

The Trimaz has its source in the Sierra de la Carba, converging with el Madalena at the bridge Puente dos Novos. It flows towards the town approaching the O Alligal pond, a natural spring of medicinal water located in the parish of Codesido. The river Ladra flows from this point onwards, which is renowned for its trout.
